Huh? I think I’m missing something, because that makes no sense at all.
Harper proposed a grant/tax cut for low-income families. Martin’s communications director said that people would just use the money to buy beer and pretzels, which caused a storm of outrage.
So now Martin has had to go on record saying that ordinary Canadians do indeed have the capability to handle their own financial affairs without the government’s interference.
