City Life

The reason I haven’t posted much in the past few weeks is that I’ve been busy hunting, buying and moving in to my new condo in downtown Vancouver. I’ve been saying for years — the four years I’ve lived in suburban Surrey — that I’d move to Vancouver, and now I have.

The move was triggered by the apparently imminent move of my office from Burnaby to the downtown. This has been delayed, so my hopes for a five-minute stroll to work haven’t quite yet happened. But I think it’s going to be interesting living in the city nonetheless.

It’s still all a little surreal, and I’m not really used to the constand motion and people in the downtown. I find myself absurdly nostalgic at fast-food franchise signs. But going to sleep with the city-glow in the window is also kinda cool.

Everyone in Yaletown is skinny and fashionable, though. I’ll have to lose some weight and get some new clothes, I guess.
