I have officially slipped a disk in my back. So I’m doing stretches every two hours.
Got a flu or something on Saturday, which made Saturday and Sunday pleasant. I did go over to Mom & Dad’s for lunch on Sunday, but not for long. Mostly watched movies and read. Sunday night I had quite a fever, but it seems to be OK today.
I did play some computer games for the first time in a long while, trying to be careful with my back:
Tried to get X-Plane working with my CH pedals and yoke (USB), but for some reason the right toe brake doesn’t show up. I can foresee the learning curve on that one being quite long. And truth to tell, I wasn’t too impressed with the flight model of the 172 I tooled around a bit in.
Flew around a bit in FS2K2 in the 172 I found on Avsim a while back (can’t remember the designers). Its flight model is supposed to be better than the default, but I still couldn’t get it to spin. The autogen scenery in Vancouver is quite nice now that it’s spring.
I fixed the problem with Splinter Cell by reinstalling, so I’m a bit further on.
Oops, wrong opera.
Scored some rush tickets to Boheme on Tuesday with some friends. Really nice sets; very Dickensian. Oddly enough, I liked the supporting singers better than Rudolfo and Mimi; Rudolfo sounded like he had a cold (and this was only the third performance, I think) — to his credit, he sang through it — and Mimi was quite shrill and a little off-key at first, though she got better as she warmed up.
The highlight was the dog, though.
Hey, the virus didn’t happen! Spent Saturday doing errands, mostly, including replacing the glasses I dropped and chipped on Friday. In a couple of days I’m going to be wearing the price of a small supercomputer on my face.
My back and leg stiffen up whenever I spend any significant time not moving, but other than that they’re getting better. Bunch of new bruises from sparring in TKD last night.
My latest Arabic textbook purchase arrived last night; I really need to try to make an effort to get back into it.
