Pounding the Pavement

Well, after a couple of months of leisure (and game development!), and three weeks of a nasty, nasty virus, I’m starting to pound the pavement. My resume can be found here, if anyone has any leads.

I’m looking for a position as a programmer in a technical area.

Progress

What with all my free time, I’ve been working quite hard on my game this past week. Below is a screenshot of some recent progress: a partial solar eclipse sometime soon (if you know about Julian Days you can figure out when):

The apparent size of the moon is due to the fact that the viewpoint from which the shot was taken is consderably far away from the Earth; note the field of view indication. From the Earth’s surface the Moon and the Sun appear roughly the same size.

P.S. GSGL stands for “Gordon’s Scene Graph Library”, or alternately “Gordon’s Stupid Graphics Library”.

At Loose Ends

So, with a signature and a handshake, five years of blood, sweat and tears is over.

Speaking of Flight Simulator…

The long-awaited Squawkbox 3 is out. I never got SB2 working with FS 2004, so I spent considerable time this weekend (apart from catching up on some sleep from the past two hectic weeks) terrorizing the virtual airways on Vatsim. Unfortunately I had a CTD near the end of one of my longer flights, from Nantucket to Atlantic City (part of my sporadic round-the-world trip). But there was no controller in New Jersey, so I was VFR at that point anyway.

I predict much more time will be wasted spent this way in the future. It’s unfortunate that none of the Canadian FIRs seem to have much activity.
