In Sickness…

The lovely Andrea & I were both lazing around the house sick all weekend. It’s very frustrating, being sick. Since you’re not at work there’s all kinds of productive things that you could be doing, but trying to do any of them make you break out in a sweat and seek the safety of the couch again. So several movies were watched, and computer games were played, but neither was very pleasurable.

At work today, but still not quite feeling 100%. After a certain point the brain just shuts down, and I feel hesitant to write any more code that I’ll look at in a week and think “What was I thinking?”

Bells & Smells

Another excellent quote from John C. Wright, gentleman, scholar, science fiction author and former atheist:

The whole of Christianity is a pagan survival; nowhere does the color and gaiety, the gold tints and the solemn bells, the Vestal Virgins and fantastic bestiary of paganism survive except in the Church. One might even say the ancient world dies and was resurrected after three days, and arose transfigured, losing none of the grace and dignity of the pagans, but gaining a rational moral character from the Jews. The good parts of paganism we kept; what we left behind was concubinage, infanticide, the gladiatorial games, and the Wicker Man.

Worse than we Thought

Turns out that Global Warming (TM) is much worse than we thought. Neal Asher collects some links to evidence that global warming extends to several other bodies in the Solar System:

Wonderful – who realised the sales of SUVs extended so far!

The wonderful John C. Wright notes that environmentalists don’t exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to doomsday predictions. He lists a dozen, at least one of which — the ban on DDT — has caused untold human suffering in Africa, Asia and South America.

Mr. Wright also notes that not one of the proposed solutions to these “problems” run counter to environmentalists’ interests. If the proposed solution to global warming were to cut down trees, one might suspect environmentalists of actual honesty.
