Sunset
Today I mostly got out of the funk I was in yesterday. Did some good work, cleaning up and refactoring some new code for work. It’s amazing how much work you can get done with a whole day of no interruptions…
Seems George Bush has mentioned his opinion that a certain African leader should step down for the good of his people. I think we all remember what happened to the last person he said that about. Hah, we should be so lucky.
Couple of differences here, though: it’s a jungle, not a desert, which brings up unfortunate memories for certain people. However, the population would be whole-heartedly exctatic, I think.
Loaded up a couple new planes in FS2K2, as well as wxRe. Didn’t see much special, but then the day was generally clear and hazy, and that seemed to be the case here as well. Dunno whether it was the planes or the weather thing, but had a lot of stuttering. Have to do some more experimenting.

An interesting essay by Philip Greenspun. (Hat tip: Eric Raymond, via Artima.)
I’m still ambivalent about open source. Actually, I’m less offended by Open Source (TM) than by Free Software (TM). Seems to me the only way to make any money in a Free Software world is patronage.
Of course it has nothing to do with being blown off by RMS at a lecture a few years ago :-)
Playacting
Went to see a couple of one-acts that a friend of mine was stage-managing tonight. There were no programs left when I got there, so of course I’ve forgotten the names. Pretty intense family dramas, very well done.
