{"id":698,"date":"2008-11-04T09:50:13","date_gmt":"2008-11-04T16:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/balafon.net\/?p=698"},"modified":"2009-09-30T10:33:36","modified_gmt":"2009-09-30T17:33:36","slug":"private-enterprise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/balafon.net\/?p=698","title":{"rendered":"Private Enterprise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So now that it seems that Nasa&#8217;s new spacecraft designs are in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbyspace.com\/nucleus\/index.php?itemid=9308\">such bad shape <\/a>as to be unsuitable for their stated purpose of returning to the moon, it seems more and more likely that private companies like <a href=\"http:\/\/spacex.com\">SpaceX<\/a> are the future of space travel.<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX has just announced a long-duration <a href=\"http:\/\/spacex.com\/press.php?page=20081103\">uncrewed version of its Dragon capsule<\/a> that can be used as a little mini space station.  I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised at all if they were working on designs for getting to the moon and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Of course this all depends on the <a href=\"http:\/\/spacex.com\/falcon9.php\">Falcon 9<\/a> being proven as a reliable launch vehicle.
