{"id":643,"date":"2008-06-10T09:10:25","date_gmt":"2008-06-10T16:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/balafon.net\/?p=643"},"modified":"2009-08-28T16:55:47","modified_gmt":"2009-08-28T23:55:47","slug":"inconvenient-questions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/balafon.net\/?p=643","title":{"rendered":"Inconvenient Questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s been a <a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/393323\/how-to-build-your-own-sea+based-country-for-fun-and-profit\">bit of a buzz<\/a> lately over <a href=\"http:\/\/seastead.org\">seasteading<\/a>, a libertarian project to <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/articles\/culture\/seasteading-engineering-the-long-tail.ars\">develop practical floating habitats<\/a> for people who want to form their own mini-governments in international waters.<\/p>\n<p>The guiding principle is &#8220;dynamic geography&#8221; &#8212; the idea that if people don&#8217;t like their government, they can move to a different one.  People can try out various different kinds of governments and social systems, to see what works for them.<\/p>\n<p>I think that&#8217;s a really cool idea.<\/p>\n<p>But am I the only one to see the huge glaring problem with the details of this particular implementation?
