Linguist Blogs
I haven’t posted anything linguistic in a while, but I’ve recently been discovering the wide world of linguistics blogs. Some links for your amusement:
Each of these will have links to many more.

I have gotten tired of spam. I’m currently running spamd from OpenBSD as well as SpamAssassin and SpamBayes, and still dozens of messages a day manage to get through.
So I’ve installed a confirmation system. If you email me, and you’re not already in my database-o-people-I-want-to-email-me, my mail system will not deliver the mail, but send you a message asking you to confirm your identity. Once you do so, your original message will be delivered. You will only need to confirm once.
Some people do not like this, but I’m getting totally fed up.
I have installed MT-Blacklist to try and stop some of the comment spam I’ve been getting. This means running under CGI and not mod_perl, so the comments pages will be slower.
I’ve just deleted a bunch of spam from the comments section of every post before today. I didn’t bother to go into all that much detail in the database, so some posts will show 1 comment where I have deleted the spam.
If anybody wants the quick-n-dirty Perl program I wrote to do this (only works for those MT installations that use DB_File; it would be much easier to do in an SQL DB) let me know.
